LAND

The Wild Animal Sanctuary has already invested over seven million dollars toward the purchase of this beautiful refuge. Through the generous donations of thousands of "Founders", we were able to complete the initial purchase of 9,752-acres of pristine land for the animals in just four short years!

Today, thousands more are helping to continue this effort by purchasing additional parcels of land that adjoin the Refuge.  By adding available land to the core Refuge, we are able to protect the hundreds of animals living there today, while also securing more habitat space for future animals in need.

HABITATS

Habitat Construction is a critical step in the process of saving and restoring lives!   You can help one or more rescued animals secure their freedom by contributing to our Habitat Construction Fund.

Although the Refuge's land is incredibly majestic, pristine and untouched, the animals who go there to live the rest of their lives in peace and comfort need a few special items to complete the process.  In order to create a safe and natural space where rehabilitated animals can live with others of their own kind, we need to create individual habitats that vary from unique 10-acre habitats for special needs animals... to massive habitats of 300-acres or more!

 Each of these habitats require miles and miles of special fencing that protect each animal(s) territory from encroachment and conflict.  In addition, we create natural underground dens for all our animals, even those who can create their own or utilize the thousands of caves and caverns that exist on the property.  Wells for drinking and water features are needed, as is the power to operate them along with security cameras and other life safety monitoring systems.

Each habitat is specially designed for the species of animals that will be living there, as well as to make the best use of the natural amenities that exist.  Immense amounts of manpower and labor go into building each habitat, with the end product being a natural space where the animals can roam freely and rarely ever come to a barrier of any kind.  Many animals living in Refuge habitats occupy spaces within their habitat where they rarely ever encounter a fence line.
